Challenges
Communities in poor rural areas face the challenge of disease and high mortality rates among children, women and the elderly due to poor or non-existent health services in seven Asian countries
Expectation
Contribute to close the gap in health services for needy populations in rural and remote areas and act as a complement to existing health systems in the seven countries concerned.
Impact
Infectious diseases associated with deaths of children, women and the elderly have been reduced by providing solar-powered mobile medical units to help fill the gap in health services and improve the performance and quality of available services. The support includes providing primary and secondary health care and many medical services including eye surgery, early detection of cancer, heart disease and diabetes, as well as kidney dialysis and basic health care, in addition to training and upgrading the efficiency of medical staff to ensure the achievement of sustainable development goals, and supporting the costs of medicines and essential medical supplies for people with acute and chronic diseases in the concerned areas.
