King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz University Campus at the Islamic University of Niger

Challenges

As a result of the university’s relatively isolated location, lack of a suitable living environment and poor means of transport, many years passed without a single female student enrolling at the university. Although it was decided to operate a special branch for female students in the capital Niamey, this branch has not been able to accommodate the growing demand for education due to its low capacity, making the desired change very limited.

Expectation

Paving the way for girls in Niger and neighboring countries to continue their university education, taking into account their social specificity, following a generous decree by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud to enhance their role in economic and social development and contribute to human development while preserving Islamic values:

  • Enabling female students to understand scientific, technological, Arabic and Islamic studies and preparing them for the labor market to serve their communities efficiently
  • Enriching the lives of Muslims in Africa with the essence of Islamic values and utilizing these values to serve the community.
  • Supporting the Arabic language in African societies.
  •  Enhancing academic research capabilities.
  • Providing a favorable framework and tools for higher and postgraduate education.

Impact

Preparing an educated generation capable of developing its community by enabling students to complete their university studies and opening doors of professional and scientific opportunities for them by establishing an educational Campus that includes 6 faculties: The College of Sharia and Law, the College of Arabic Language and Humanities, the College of Economics and Management Sciences, the College of Science and Technology, the College of Agriculture, the College of Nursing, and the Sai Institute for Vocational and Technical Rehabilitation. The Campus also includes a conference hall and research center, a central library, a mosque, a medical clinic, a building dedicated to restaurants and other facilities for sports and social activities, and a dormitory for 1,300 female students. It will provide a stimulating and modern learning environment with a target of graduating 1000 students per year.
