About the Foundation

History of the Foundation

The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz International Foundation for Humanitarian Works  was established on  (29 Ramadan 1431 AH – 8 September 2010 AD), and has grown and expanded to reach the whole world, and committed to the principle of deserving a decent life for every human being, wherever he may be. Its projects have materialized with a humanitarian vision that has extended its impact across its affiliated entities.

The Foundation Objectives

The Foundation aims to achieve the noble goals and objectives adopted by the founder in order to serve his religion, his homeland, his Arab and Islamic nations and humanity as a whole in all fields, including the provision of charitable and humanitarian works.
  • Building and supporting mosques and Islamic centers.
  • Supporting, encouraging and contributing to dialogue efforts between followers of civilizations and religions.
  • Preparing research and studies and supporting efforts related to the Foundation objectives, developing and disseminating them, especially spreading the meanings of moderation, tolerance and peace, promoting values and morals, bringing Islamic sects closer together, reducing division and discord, rejecting violence, and combating crime in all its forms.
  • Carrying out all works and services related to teaching Islamic Sharia and understanding its provisions, and publishing in this field.
  • Establishing universities, colleges, schools, institutes, libraries, etc., centers of all kinds (professional, technical, educational, social, research, etc.), as well as establishing hospitals, sanatoriums, treatment, care and rehabilitation centers, and managing any of these entities.
  • Establishing scientific and research chairs in the name of the founder in educational institutions.
  • Providing assistance and grants to researchers and scholars in various types of sciences and studies that provide the opportunity to increase the various forms of knowledge and culture in order to contribute to the global scientific renaissance.
  • Holding courses, seminars, conferences, forums, exhibitions, sessions and workshops related to the Foundation objectives, and participating in any other events that may be organized by other bodies inside or outside the Kingdom.
  • Encouraging translation works (from and into Arabic) related to Foundation objective and supporting them by all means.
  • Publishing and distributing circular, memoranda, periodicals, translations and other documents related to the Foundation objectives.
  • Cooperating with institutions, organizations, bodies, universities, etc. inside and outside the country, and conclude agreements that help achieve the Foundation objectives, in line with the general policy of the country.
  • Contributing to the provision of relief services of all kinds.
  • Providing assistance and housing for the needy, establishing productive projects, and supporting lending institutions that undertake these activities.

Board of Trustees

It is the top management of the Foundation and the supervisor of its activities. The Board of Trustees of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz International Foundation for Humanitarian Works is composed of their Royal Highnesses, sons of King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz – may Allah have mercy on him – and is chaired by His Royal Highness Prince Miteb bin Abdullah bin Abdulaziz.

Board of Directors

The Board of Directors manages all the work of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud International Foundation for Humanitarian Works, and works on preparing general and investment policies and strategies, in addition to preparing draft regulations of the Foundation and its business reports, and proposing plans and programs that would develop its resources in accordance with the decisions of the Board of Trustees.

Executive Management
(Organizational Structure)

The Executive Management implements the Foundation’s plans and activities on a daily basis, and submits work and achievement reports to the Board of Directors, through several different departments that were established based on the requirements of the strategic plans, and it operates within an organizational structure.
